1. Information we collect and its sources

Account information. Information you provide to register or sign in, such as your email address and account details, together with identifiers and authentication information from our authentication providers. Google sign-in, where offered, supplies information associated with that sign-in.

Content you submit. Messages, notes about people, relationship history, objectives, feedback, corrections, answers to questions, support requests and other material you provide. This may include information about people who do not use buderfli. We retain submitted notes and messages as part of your saved history unless deleted through the applicable controls.

Saved facts and relationship memory. We organize submitted material into categorized facts, relationship context and timelines. Saved entries may include quotations, attribution to a speaker, references to their source material, and internal labels indicating which parts of the service may find them relevant. A label in the Facts tab does not mean we independently verified the information. Entries may reflect your reports or AI extraction and may contain errors.

Generated information. AI-generated interpretations, working hypotheses about a person’s circumstances or perspective, possible needs or preferences, suggested approaches, encounter plans, example wording and summaries. These are contextual inferences, not verified findings, diagnoses or reliable knowledge of another person’s thoughts or intentions.

Screenshots and audio. Screenshots submitted for analysis and audio submitted for transcription. Our application does not persist the original screenshot or audio file. Extracted screenshot text may be stored, and transcribed text becomes stored conversation content if you submit it. Processing providers may retain information separately.

Website activity and device information. Information collected through cookies, pixels, hosting systems and similar technologies, including IP addresses, browser and device information, cookie identifiers, referral sources, pages visited and website interactions.

Operational information. Technical, security and performance records used to operate the service, diagnose problems and prevent abuse.

Email and support information. Information you provide when contacting us or subscribing to communications, and delivery records generated by our email providers.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create and authenticate accounts.
  • Process submissions and provide AI-generated responses.
  • Organize and retain submitted information as conversation history, facts, relationship memory and timelines; identify relevant context for later assistance; and process your corrections and feedback.
  • Respond to support requests and privacy requests.
  • Send service communications and permitted marketing messages.
  • Analyze website use, measure advertising and support advertising audiences.
  • Maintain security, diagnose problems and prevent misuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Providing some information is necessary to create an account or process a request. If you do not provide it, the corresponding feature may be unavailable.

3. AI processing and inferences

buderfli sends submitted material and relevant saved context to OpenAI to provide AI features. Depending on the feature, this can include messages, notes, facts, relationship history, retained quotations, feedback, screenshots or audio.

When you submit a message or note, AI processing may automatically organize it into facts and relationship memory, retain relevant wording and identify information useful for later assistance. This can happen before you request a relationship analysis. Remember mode does not generate a conversational reply, but it still uses AI to organize submitted information.

A full relationship analysis is initiated when you request it through the analysis controls. The service uses relevant saved material and your feedback to develop or reconsider working interpretations and possible approaches. Internal relevance labels help select information for different analytical steps; they do not make that information accurate or establish a fixed personality type.

These features can involve automated inferences about personal aspects, such as interests, preferences or likely responses in a situation. The service does not itself make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects, such as employment, credit or housing decisions. Its interpretations may be wrong, and you remain responsible for deciding whether and how to act.

We request permission before first sending your material to OpenAI through these features. This permission is separate from optional advertising and analytics choices and does not provide consent on behalf of another person. If you decline or withdraw permission, features requiring further AI processing will be unavailable until you enable it again. Withdrawal does not by itself delete information already stored; use the relevant deletion controls or contact us.

Our application uses settings that avoid storing responses as retrievable response objects with the provider. This is not a promise of zero retention: separate security, abuse-monitoring and feature-specific retention rules may apply. The provider’s contractual terms and applicable account settings govern its handling of this information. Contact us for information about the settings applicable to our service.

4. Information about other people and sensitive information

We may receive information about you from another user’s description of a relationship or situation, even if you do not have an account.

Users should provide only relevant information they are entitled to share and should avoid unnecessary identifying details and sensitive records. A user’s agreement to our Terms does not constitute another person’s consent.

Descriptions may reveal sensitive information, including health, beliefs or intimate circumstances. Such information requires particular care and, where applicable, an additional legal condition for processing. We do not treat acceptance of our Terms as blanket consent to process sensitive information.

If you believe we hold information about you through another user’s submissions, contact cap@channel-app.com. We may need additional information to locate records and verify your request while protecting other people’s rights.

5. Providers and disclosures

We use the following providers for relevant functions:

ProviderFunction
Google FirebaseAuthentication and database storage
VercelHosting and application infrastructure
OpenAIAI processing and audio transcription
Google AnalyticsPublic-website usage analytics
Google AdsAdvertising measurement and retargeting on other websites and services
MetaAdvertising measurement and retargeting on other websites and services

Authentication, hosting and AI providers may process account information, submitted content or technical information needed for their functions. Website analytics and advertising providers receive website activity, device information and identifiers.

We do not send private messages, notes about people, facts, retained quotations, relationship memory, objectives, feedback, screenshots, audio or generated analyses to website analytics or advertising tools. We do not use that private content to build advertising audiences. Optional website analytics and advertising technologies are confined to public website pages, not the private application.

Providers may act as service providers, processors or independent controllers depending on their function and applicable agreements.

We may also disclose relevant information to professional advisers, where legally required, to protect rights or security, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or business transfer.

6. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to support authentication, security and requested functions, and to remember your choices. Optional cookies, pixels and similar technologies support public-website analytics and advertising.

With your permission, Google Analytics helps us understand public-website visits and interactions. Google Ads and Meta help us measure campaigns and retarget visitors, meaning that someone who visits our public website may later see buderfli advertising on another website or service.

These providers may receive public-page URLs, referral information, website interactions, IP addresses, browser and device information, and cookie or similar identifiers. They may associate that information with other information they hold and recognize activity across websites or services. We do not include private application content in these disclosures.

Advertising disclosures may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” under applicable privacy laws, including sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, even without a monetary payment.

Optional analytics and advertising technologies are off until you enable the relevant category. You can accept, reject or choose categories separately, and change or withdraw your choices at any time through Privacy Choices. Rejecting optional tracking does not prevent use of the application. Accepting our Terms or enabling AI processing does not enable optional tracking.

We treat an active Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of sale and sharing for advertising. Advertising technologies remain off while that signal is active, even if you previously enabled advertising. The older “Do Not Track” setting is not treated as equivalent.

Your website choices are stored for this browser and site. They do not automatically transfer from another domain, browser or device. Clearing site data may require you to choose again.

Turning a category off stops further collection through that category on our site and removes related first-party cookies where technically possible. It does not automatically erase information already received by providers or cookies on their domains. Contact us to exercise applicable privacy rights.

7. Legal grounds for processing

Where GDPR or similar law applies, our processing must have an applicable legal basis.

For account holders, we rely on performance of our contract where processing is necessary to provide the requested account and service.

We rely on legitimate interests, subject to the required balancing of rights, for appropriate security, fraud prevention, service administration, support and protection of legal rights.

We rely on consent where required for optional tracking, marketing or other consent-based processing, and on legal obligations where processing is legally required. Consent can be withdrawn without affecting processing lawfully carried out before withdrawal.

Information about nonusers requires a separate applicable basis; it is not automatically covered by our contract with the submitting user. Where legitimate interests apply, the relevant interest is helping users understand and navigate their relationships while protecting the rights and reasonable expectations of the people described. Sensitive information requires any additional legal condition applicable to that information.

8. Retention and deletion

We retain information for the purposes described in this notice, taking account of the need to provide saved history and context, applicable legal requirements, unresolved disputes and proportionate security needs.

Account details, conversations, facts, quotations, generated analyses and relationship memory are retained to support your account and saved context until deleted through the relevant controls or following a deletion request, subject to lawful exceptions.

Editing a fact changes its current entry. Corrections and overview feedback may also be retained in the chat history and correction records, including the previous and revised wording. Earlier analyses or other saved records are not necessarily rewritten or erased by an edit. Relevant changes can be considered when you next request analysis.

Removing a fact removes it from the active facts list. We retain a limited exclusion record, including its content and source reference, to help prevent it from being added again from the same source. This does not guarantee that equivalent information cannot be derived from other material, and it does not automatically remove related statements from notes, relationship memory or earlier analyses.

Deleting a conversation does not necessarily delete facts or relationship memory derived from it. Use the person-deletion or account-deletion controls, or contact us, when broader deletion is intended. Person deletion includes the associated facts and fact-exclusion records. Requests to erase information remain subject to applicable legal exceptions.

Support records are retained according to the unresolved support need and applicable recordkeeping or claims requirements. Technical records and backups follow the applicable operational retention schedules. Provider security records may have separate retention periods.

We may retain limited information needed to honor an opt-out or meet legal obligations after other information is deleted. Contact us for further information about applicable retention periods.

9. International processing

We are based in the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries.

Where applicable law restricts an international transfer, we use the relevant lawful transfer mechanism and required safeguards. Depending on the provider and transfer, these may include an applicable adequacy decision or approved contractual clauses.

Contact cap@channel-app.com for information about the safeguards applicable to your information and how to obtain a copy, subject to necessary redactions.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • Know about and access personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion.
  • Receive a portable copy.
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Withdraw consent.
  • Opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising.
  • Limit certain uses of sensitive personal information.
  • Appeal a decision concerning a privacy request, where applicable.
  • Complain to a competent privacy or data protection authority.

Email cap@channel-app.com to make a request. For applicable tracking and advertising choices, you can also use Privacy Choices.

We may verify your identity or an authorized agent’s authority, using information proportionate to the request. We will respond within the applicable legal timeframe and explain relevant limitations or exceptions.

We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

California residents can request information about applicable categories and specific pieces of personal information, sources, purposes and recipients, as well as exercise applicable correction, deletion, portability, sale/sharing opt-out and sensitive-information rights.

For marketing email, use the unsubscribe link or contact us. Necessary account and service messages may continue.

11. Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system or method of transmission is completely secure.

Protect your login credentials and avoid submitting unnecessary personal or confidential information.

12. Children

buderfli is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly offer accounts to children.

If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact cap@channel-app.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

13. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as our service or practices change. We will publish the revised effective date and provide additional notice or obtain consent where required.
